In de plaats van naar het stadspark te gaan kozen we er voor om op een grasveldje vlak bij het station te gaan zitten.
En zo spendeerden we het meeste van de namiddag op het gras, waar we nadachten over dingen die we kunnen doen, lekkere komkomer sandwhiches van Marijke en ditto pasta van Dorian's zus opaten en snackten op kroepoek en Azteken koekjes.
De air krakens Cutethulhu (de grijze) en Phineas (Artifakt's mascotte) lusten er ook wel wat van.
Eigenlijk was het plan om dinosauruskoeken te eten maar het bedrijf dat ze maakt besloot dat het dinosaurussen beu was en een nieuwe look nodig was, dus Azteekse symboliek is het nieuwe ding. Nog altijd prima voor de steampunk archeologen onder ons denken we dan maar.
We vonden een aardige voorbijganger om de groepsfoto te nemen,
hingen nog wat meer rond, Sam en Yoeri mishandelden een klok onder het waakzaam oog van Laurens
en toen (na alles netjes opgeruimd te hebben natuurlijk!) gingen we het station weer in voor individuele fotos aangezien het daar minder bakheet was en het licht veel beter.
En we lieten nog een groepsfoto nemen door een aardige voorbijganger want zoals je ongetwijfeld weet kan je nooit teveel groepsfotos hebben :)
Eén ding hebben we alvast wel geleerd: sunblock is je vriend!

Last Friday the weather was nice, which was awesome as Artifakt had planned a picnic to celebrate International Steampunk Day. We did have the back-up plan of staying inside at the far end of the station where the crowds are very few and so we wouldn't be bothering anyone if the weather had been dire but it didn't have to come to that.
Instead of going to the city park we opted to go to a nice patch of grass nearby the station.
So we spend most of the afternoon on the grass, plotted things to do, ate the delicious cucumber sandwhiches Marijke and the tasty pasta Dorian's sister had made and munched on shrimp crackers and Aztec cookies. The plan was to have dinosaur cookies but the company decided it was done with dinosaurs and wanted to do a different look, so edible Aztec symbolism is the new thing.
Still good for the steampunk style archaelogists amongst us we suppose.
We found a kind passerby to take our photo, hung out some more, Sam and Youri mutilated a clock under the watchful eye of Laurens and then (after having cleaned up after ourselves of course!) we went inside the station again to take some individual outfit shots where the weather wasn't quite as boiling and the light wasn't quite as bright.
And we got another group shot taken by another kind passer by, because you know, you can never have too many group shots :)
One thing we learned though: sunblock is your friend!
